5 Goal-Setting Apps to Help You Achieve Your Resolutions

Happy New Year! If you’re anything like me, a new year means new goals to reach and dreams to chase.  Every year, instead of making resolutions, which I feel often have a negative connotation (stop eating chocolate, lose 10 pounds… you know the drill), I write a list of goals that I want to reach this year. Check out this awesome article for tips on how to write your meaningful resolutions.

The problem with setting goals is that as the year starts to fly by, everyday life often gets in the way, and your dreams fall to the wayside. Instead of writing your goals on a crumpled scrap of paper and tacking it to the bulletin board behind your computer (hey, we all do it!), download one or a couple of these apps that will help you stick with your goals and resolutions all year long!

Lift

This free app is one of my favorites! It features dozens of “habits” created by other users that you can join. For example, “drink more water” is a habit you can join. It has a 21-day goal with a daily discussion topic that will help you engage with other users who are trying to reach the same goal and encourage you to drink more water. It’s a great way to set short term goals to create healthier habits and track your success all year long.

Everest

This app is similar to Lift, but instead of joining groups, you can set your own goals. When you set your goal, you can choose how long you would like to take to reach your goal and you can set your own daily steps or reminders to help you reach the goal. This is a great app if you are going to set a long-term goal and would like constant steps and reminders of how to achieve your goal all year long.

Beeminder

If you need a little extra motivation to stick to your New Year’s resolutions, then this app is for you! Beeminder will allow you to set up a goal for yourself and then the app will prompt you to check in and keep up with reaching your goal. If you don’t, then the app will charge you anywhere from $5 to $15 dollars! Losing money will certainly help to keep you on track!

Goals on Track

This app is a bit pricier at $68 dollars for a yearlong membership, but you may find that it’s well worth the price! This software is available on your computer, smart phone and tablet and allows you to comprehensively clarify your goals, set action steps, visualize success, and track the time that it will take you to reach success. If you have some serious goals to reach this year, Goals on Track might be just what you need!

Life Tick

This app is very similar to Goals on Track, although it is a bit more affordable, priced at $49 for a one-year membership. I love this program because you are encouraged to start your goals journey by setting your core values, which will help you stay on track with what is most important to you. The program follows the S.M.A.R.T. goal setting method. It will create tasks and reminders for you that will give direction and confidence as you reach your goal!

Do you have a favorite goal reaching app that you are using to achieve your 2014 New Year resolutions?
