Eco-Friendly Celebrities

Actors like George Clooney, Pierce Brosnan, Alicia Silverstone and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are among several of the celebrities who are taking the spotlight off themselves and shining it onto the environment—using energy-efficient light bulbs, of course.
George Clooney launched a campaign to reduce America’s dependence on oil. He is also an advocate of sustainable energy and drives an electric Tango car. Pierce Brosnan’s, AKA James Bond, activism is focused on wetland and marine mammal protection. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a devout environmentalist and has long been active with organizations like Heal the Bay, the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Trust for Public Land. Alicia Silverstone along with being an outspoken animal activist also promotes energy-efficient light bulbs and bamboo for wood flooring.
Don’t worry. You don’t have to donate thousands of dollars to make a difference. Here are a few tips for greener living:
- eat locally to decrease food miles
- switch to energy-efficient power
- recycle
- make your own cleaning supplies
- carpool, bike or walk to work
- junk mail
- skip bottled water
Any small step you make will make a difference in the long run. What do you do to improve the environment? Visit the Natural Resources Defense Council for more ways to be green.
