Lately, there have been many articles and research touting the benefits of the Mediterranean Diet. Most recently, U.S. News & World Report mentioned research that showed those who stuck with a strict Mediterranean diet are at less risk of developing heart disease, cancer, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.

Those who stick to this diet will eat mostly fruits, vegetables, bread, cereal, potatoes, beans, nuts and olive oil. Dairy products, fish, poultry, and wine and red meat should be consumed in lower amounts. Eggs should not be eaten at all or at the most four times a week.

It’s nice when a style of eating is more flexible. That’s why the 90-10 diet works so well. Eat mostly fruits, vegetables and grains and every now and then you can slip in some chocolate or other foods you might crave. What works for you?
